Qualification Options

We currently offer the following City & Guilds Work with Parents Qualifications:

• Level 3 Award in Work with Parents
• Level 3 Certificate in Work with Parents

The Award and Certificate in Work with Parents have been designed to equip those working with parents with the necessary skills and knowledge required to work effectively with parents, helping them to understand their role and meet their children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs in family life.

A Level 3 Award or Certificate in Work with Parents is for anybody supporting and working with parents and children in a variety of settings and can help you start your career in the work with parents sector or progress within the industry. You can use these qualifications to work with parents in roles such as; Parent liaison officer, Home school support advisor, Parent support advisor, Parenting group leader/Facilitator, Parenting support/Home visitor, Senior support worker, Child care practitioner, Family support worker, Health visitor, Social worker, etc.

Age Group – 18 or older


Level 3 Award in Work with Parents – 12 credits / TQT 120

You will need to complete just one mandatory unit (6 credits), this is:

• Build and maintain relationships in work with parents

Plus 6 credits from a range of optional units

Level 3 Certificate in Work with Parents – 30 credits / TQT 300

You will need to complete seven mandatory units, (30 credits) these are:

• Build and maintain relationships in work with parents
• Work with parents to meet their children’s needs
• Enable parents to develop ways of handling relationships and behavior that contribute to everyday life with children
• Enable parents to reflect on the influences in parenting and the parent-child relationship
• Effective communication with parents
• Work in partnership with parents to engage them with their children’s learning and development in school
• Schools as organisations

How long will it take

All learners vary on the timescale to complete their qualification.
When you register, you will be given a specified target date in which to achieve your qualification, you can complete your qualification sooner than the target date if you are able to submit work regularly and at a good pace. Specific target dates can be discussed and agreed with your Assessor.

Total Qualification Time (TQT) ranges from 120 – 300 hrs, depending on the qualification being undertaken, these are based on the average amount of time taken to achieve these qualifications, over an average completion period of 6 – 12 months.

• Level 3 Certificate in Work with Parents – £1,325.00 *

These prices are reduced significantly for learners and organisations with their own in-house assessor support.

Registration

To register for any of these qualifications, you need to complete the necessary registration forms. This will prompt support for you to consider all the aspects involved in undertaking the qualification and ensure the right one is selected for you.
