Supporting Medication: Train the Trainer **Updated for 2020**

Updated for 2020!

This one-day facilitators’ session is aimed at people who are already competent trainers within social care and would like to deliver our updated ‘Supporting Medication’ course materials to the staff within their organisation – providing their staff with the underpinning knowledge and understanding that will promote their competency and consistency when supporting individuals with their medication management.

On completion of the session, the trainer will be equipped to deliver the ‘Supporting Medication’ course to your front-line staff, which in turn, ensures your staff understand the correct ways of supporting individuals with their medication; they understand and are aware of the values and legislation that needs to underpin and be at the forefront of their practice.

The Supporting Medication workshop covers the following:

  • The legislative framework relevant to the support and administration of medication in social care settings.
  • Roles and responsibilities in supporting the use of medication in social care settings.
  • The common types of medication and their use.
  • Techniques for administering medication.
  • The process for receiving, storing and disposing of medication supplies safely.
  • How to promote the rights of the individual and support the use of medication.
  • How to record and report on use of medication.

The Supporting Medication course has been written to cover the knowledge needed to complete the City & Guilds units 343 Support the use of Medication in Adult Care or 344 Administer Medication to Individuals & Monitor the Effects; both from the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care. As well as covering the knowledge aspects of the NOS (National Occupational Standards) SCDHSC3122 and SFHCHS3.
