Unite for our rights!

LDA England have today launched its brand new website!  The Association for Real Change is proud to be one of the founding members of the Learning Disability Alliance (LDA) England and also a member of their Advisory Group.

The alliance brings together the 4 key umbrella groups for people with learning disabilities:

  • National Forum of People with Learning Disabilities
  • National Valuing Family Forum
  • Association for Real Change, and
  • Housing & Support Alliance

LDA England is an independent membership organisation, campaigning to advance the rights of people with learning disabilities. Initial focus for the alliance will be on quality checking Government and the political parties in advance of the UK General Election on 7th May 2015.

LDA England will set out its vision for a better future. This vision will be created by people with learning disabilities, families and their allies. People with learning disabilities will have a veto over its content.

Simon Duffy, who is coordinating the development of the Alliance said:

“The past few years have seen a radical reverse in the rights of people with learning disabilities. Things have never been so bad. So it makes sense to unite. Individuals and organisations often feel powerless in the face of bad policies and the ignorance of the system. Unity can make us stronger and braver.”
