The HEO Plymouth Team (L – R: Darren Colley, David Adams, Claire Knight & David Aiken)

The ‘Helping Each Other’ Open Day for the Plymouth project was a huge success. The City Council were kind enough to provide us with the splendid surrounds on the Charter Room in the Guildhall. Surrounded by stained glass and oil paintings bigger than my house the team did a great job in selling the project to a sell out crowd of 50 people from learning disability and children’s services, as well as parents, carers and self advocates.

Listening to the team delivering their presentations

David Aiken chaired the day and told people about the free training we are offering, whilst Claire talked about the workbook we are developing, and Darren and David Adams presented the ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’ quiz which forms part of our training pack.

We also showed a video interview with the team, and one of Claire relating her experiences of being sexually exploited.

The team spoke knowledgeably and passionately about the subject, and the project, and we received a number of requests for training which we are now following up.

Feedback from the Day

It was lovely to meet you and your team on Friday.  It was great to get an insight into the excellent work you do in helping young adults with such as serious subject.

It was a most worthwhile event which I haven’t stopped promoting since my return.

Thoughts from the Training Team:

I thought it went very well and we all done our bit as a team.
