Diabetes and People with Learning Disabilities Awareness

Statistics show that people with learning disabilities are more susceptible to diabetes than the general population; women in particular being at a higher risk. Because of this, we have designed a one-day workshop to increase knowledge and understanding of this complex condition which can have lasting, and sometimes fatal, consequences.

By completing this workshop, your staff will be equipped to effectively encourage those they support to live a healthy lifestyle whilst managing their diabetes.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will:

  • Understand what diabetes is
  • Understand the signs and symptoms of diabetes
  • Have a sound knowledge of the variety of treatments available
  • Have an understanding of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia, the signs and how to support someone in managing these
  • Be able to help those they support to live a healthy lifestyle

We are taking expressions of interest; if you are interested in a workshop in your area please let us know.

  • £80 (ARC Member)
  • £95 (Non-member)
