The year is flying by, Autumn is officially here … And we all know what that means, we need to pull out the winter woollies ready for the cold mornings, get the de-icer in the car and start thinking about your Christmas list (yes, Christmas! I said it, sorry!). The other thing this time of year brings is an expectation that your organisation has fully implemented the Care Certificate.

As the Summer (what Summer? I hear you cry) comes to an end so does the CQC’s ‘grace period’ for providers to implement the new Care Certificate standards.

How ready are you?

Let us help. Here at ARC England, we have taken our time to develop a comprehensive learning pack and workbook on the knowledge component of the Care Certificate. It goes through each standard in detail to give your new starter a wealth of useful information, and the workbook will test and evidence their understanding. We have also mapped all the exercises in the workbook to an assessment sign-off sheet.  This will help you or whoever in your organisation is ‘assessing’ this and make life a little easier. Alternatively, to add an extra layer of quality assurance to the process, the completed workbook can be sent to ARC for external assessment, at no extra cost. Priced at £49 for members, £60 non-members, per learning pack.

I will be contacting the long list of people who have already expressed an interest in the learning packs shortly. These will be ready to go by the first week in October!

In addition to the packs, we can support you in other ways. We are able to offer a raft of training solutions – train the trainer workshops, upfront course delivery to new starters and assistance to you and your managers to support the implementation of the standards within your induction process. We acknowledge too that often the best person to conduct an observation maybe a Senior Support worker, but have they ever formally done that before? We can help demonstrate how a good observation is evidenced.

A number of members I have spoken to have concerns about embedding the Care Certificate but it is crucial now to have this as an intrinsic part of your induction process.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can support you. Please feel free to contact us via email: or call us on 01246 555043.

Best wishes,
ARC England Director
