What is WDF?

This webpage is an introduction to WDF for potential, new and existing ARC WDF Partners.

Association for Real Change is contracted by Skills for Care to disburse the Workforce Development Funding (WDF).

ARC is a National Lead Partner – we can process claims for organisations anywhere in the country.

WDF is a fund from the Department of Health, disseminated by Skills for Care to support Adult Health & Social Care providers in England, towards the cost of learners achieving Qualifications from the List of funded qualifications and learning programmes.  Potential funding per learner, per funding year is up to a maximum of £1,200.

You need to join a Partnership to access funding, overview outline:

  • Update your NMDS
  • Join a Partnership
  • Acceptance by Skills for Care
  • Submit claims
  • Receive payment

If you wish to join the ARC WDF partnership to access funding, you will need to: complete four simple Partnership documents; fully complete your NMDS-SC details; have employees who are working towards qualifications or endorsed learning programmes.

For WDF 2018/19 establishments will need to update their NMDS on or after 1st April 2018 and achieve eligibility, then eligibility will remain for the whole grant period, as long as the NMDS-SC account is not closed during this period. WDF can only be claimed for learners through the establishment where they work.  Claims cannot be processed for funding until your NMDS has been completed or updated.

Claims for funding are processed by the submission of unit and final certificates for the qualification being undertaken.  The final certificate must be dated from 1st January 2018.  Information on how to claim funding can be accessed on our FAQ’s.

The maximum claim for each learner within the funding year is up to a maximum of £1,200 and is a contribution towards the cost of training, the fund is limited and not guaranteed.
