Workforce Development Funding 2016/2017

Workforce Development Funding 2016/2017

Skills for CareOur Partnership is no longer accepting new members for the 2016/17 funding year.  When the outcome of our new tender for 2017/18 is known we will update the Workforce Development pages of our website accordingly.

This webpage is an introduction to WDF for potential, new and existing ARC WDF Partners.

Association for Real Change is contracted by Skills for Care to disburse the Workforce Development Funding (WDF).  We are a national lead partner, proudly covering the whole of England.

WDF is a ‘pot of money’ from the Department of Health, disseminated by Skills for Care and is designed to support Adult Social Care providers in England with the cost of a range of units from the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).  Through this funding, Health & Social Care providers can make a claim towards the costs of qualifications being undertaken by your adult social care staff.  Up to a maximum of £900 per learner per funding year.

If you are an Adult Social Care employer in England and are not already a WDF Partner you can access WDF by joining a Partnership or, for certain areas only, accessing the funding directly from Skills for Care. Association for Real Change (ARC) is a National Lead Partner, which means we can process claims for employees at establishments/workplaces anywhere in the country.

To join a WDF partnership you will need to: complete a Members declaration form 16/17 and submit to a Lead Partner (grant holder); comply with the NMDS-SC requirements; have employees who are completing eligible units from the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) list of acceptable units.

Through this funding providers of Adult Health and Social Care can make a claim towards the costs of QCF units. The funding is applied for as the learner progresses through their qualification and units can be claimed for as units are completed, signed and dated by the Internal Verifier between 1st January 2016 and 31st March 2017, and the units must not have been claimed in a previous funding year.

The maximum claim for each learner within the funding year is 60 credits (£900). The credit value from Skills for Care remains at £15.00 per credit and is a contribution towards the cost of training, but not guaranteed. WDF is a finite pot of money from the Department of Health disseminated by Skills for Care.

For WDF 2016/17 establishments will be required to update their NMDS-SC records. If you update at any time on or after 1st April 2016 and achieve eligibility on NMDS-SC completion in line with the current requirements, then eligibility will remain for the whole grant period, as long as the NMDS-SC account is not closed during this period. If after reviewing the data nothing has changed, you will still be required to click the section up to date link. By so doing, you are confirming that the information provided in the records is accurate and up to date. WDF can only be claimed for learners through the establishment where they work.

Further information can be found on our NMDS-SC webpage. Please see the Skills for Care NMDS-SC criteria for specific information or contact the NMDS helpline on 0845 873 0129. Units cannot be processed for funding until your NMDS has been completed or updated.
