City & Guilds External Quality Assurance Visits

External Quality Assurers make regular visits to Centres and assessment locations to sample candidate assessments and monitor assessment and verification practice.

They request to see and sample portfolios sent to them either at the Centre or by remote monitoring. They provide written and verbal feedback to Centres as required by City & Guilds and the regulators QCA (Qualifications & Curriculum Authority) and OfQual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations) and prepare reports that the Centre disseminate to our organisations.

Their role is to ensure that all assessments undertaken within Centres are fair, valid and consistent, and meet the requirements of the standards and the course syllabus. Where there are problems, they are on hand to provide guidance and support and to maintain accurate up to date records on activities undertaken.

Prior to the visit the Centre submits reports to the External Quality Assurer from information held on our candidate database. The External Quality Assurer makes a selection from the reports on which portfolios, candidates, Assessors and Internal Quality Assurers they would like to see. The Centre will then contact the chosen organisations detailing the above requirements.

Our Centre had it’s last visit in April 2016, we are pleased to report that we are once again classed as a low risk Centre our next visit should take place in 12 months time.

Should you require further advice on this process please contact ARC Training Services.
