City & Guilds have produced a guide to mapping the Care Certificate to the mandatory units of the Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care, showing where there is the potential for an exact or partial match.
This will be a useful tool for Assessors of the Health & Social Care Diploma, working with candidates who have previously achieved the Care Certificate.
The guide also includes a reminder about correct use of RPL and states that, as the Care Certificate is not accredited through Awarding Organisations, it will be up to Assesssors to ensure that there has been sufficient depth demonstrated in the Care Certificate, to show understanding to meet unit evidence requirements of Level 2.
Particular care must also be taken when judging evidence which has been generated for the Care Certificate through group discussion.
Assessors will find this a really useful tool. Care Certificate Mapping Guide L2 Diploma V1.0 May 15
