In 2009, following a recommendation by our external verifiers, ARC Training Services NVQ centre became a City & Guilds pilot site for the Star Unit.
The Star Unit recognises exceptional performance and is awarded to an elite group of candidates whose work and all round performance stands out so significantly that it deserves public recognition.
Our two most recent achievers are Rachel Adeagbo from The Westminster Society and Judith Morgan-Worrall from Family Mosaic.
This is what their assessors said about why they are star unit achievers:
Rachel has completed the NVQ in Health & Social Care level 2 and the Star Unit.
“Rachel consistently demonstrates true dedication and commitment to her work ensuring a high quality of support for the people she works with. This was evident throughout the whole period when working with Rachel and assessing her work towards her HSC 2 Award.”
“When we heard about the new Star Unit we immediately thought that Rachel’s commitment, enthusiasm and dedication both to her work and achieving her NVQ made her a natural candidate for this award and we were very excited to nominate her.”
“Rachel’s portfolio is full of high quality evidence which made the assessment process towards the Star Unit a very pleasurable piece of work to complete. We are really proud to have Rachel working for us and for her achievement in obtaining the Star Unit award.” Ben Nyberg – Assessor
Judith has completed the NVQ Registered Manager Award at level 4 and the Star Unit.
“Judith started her RMA in July 2009. She was very focused on gaining knowledge to undertake her manager role, as she had had no formal management training.”
“Throughout the ten month programme, she learnt a great deal about her role and best practice. This was evident in the work she produced and I could see how she was developing both herself and her service as a result of undertaking the RMA.”
“She used her new knowledge to challenge Social Services and her own organisation to achieve even higher standards of support for the individuals living in the services she manages. In doing so, she was clearly able to demonstrate her competence for the Star Award. She is now undertaking NVQ Health & Social Care level 4 and is looking to achieve the Star Unit Award with this qualification too.” Sara Canham – Assessor
