Medication Training Course – Date To Be Confirmed

One day taught course – date to be confirmed. 9.30am – 4pm

Adult MedicationThis is not a Train the Trainer course but a full day training course for practitioners.

Course Content

  • The legislation and guidance surrounding administration of medication
  • Principles of care in relation to administration of  / supporting people with medication
  • Choice, Consent and Capacity (legal procedures and requirements)
  • Practical considerations (such as infection control, health & safety, storage, disposal etc)
  • Types and categories of drugs (controlled, pharmacy only, prescribed, over the counter)
  • Routes of administration (ingested, inhaled, topical, injected etc)
  • Good / unacceptable / illegal practice (e.g. Crushing tablets, opening capsules, not taking as prescribed)
  • Recording and reporting
  • The importance of care planning and risk assessment in the context of medication.

Cost £95 per person.

Course held at: ARC Scotland, Unit 10 Hardengreen Business Centre, Eskbank, Dalkeith, Midlothian EH22 3NX and includes a buffet lunch.

An optional opportunity to undertake an assessment of the learning will be provided immediately after the training (4.15 – 5pm)

Learners will receive a marking report and a certificate confirming their assessment result. The cost of this assessment is £9 per person.
