Workforce Development Group

What is the Workforce Development Group?

Developing a confident and competent workforce is a key challenge for all organisations that wish to deliver high quality support to men and women with a learning disability.  Challenges over the next year will include:

  • implementing the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)
  • doing more with less.

Since January 2008, ARC has hosted a Workforce Development Group (WFDG) and in response to request from members we are pleased to host the new group for a further year.

The ARC Workforce Development Group will afford opportunities for managers and trainers to meet at 4 workshops during 2010/11.

The ARC Workforce Development Group gathers a lot of experience from the care sector inot one room.  Topics discussed and materials presented are spot on and promote excellent discussion within the group.  Highly recommended.  Heather Frizzell (Prospects)

Being new to the sector I found WFDG invaluable.  It helped me get a better insight into the sector and gace an opportunity to learn from and share ideas and experiences with colleagues from other organisations providing services to men and women with learning disabilities. Alison Simpson (HR Manager, Positive Futures)

Programme

Each workshop follows a detailed programme which is agreed in consultation with members, in order to ensure it is tailored to their needs.

Each session will inlcude inputs on workforce issues and will be designed to enable sharing of tools, expertise and resources.

The costs of running the group will be met by applying a charge of £200 per organisation with a maximum of 3 representatives from each organisation.  This covers the cost of venue, catering, materials and speaker’s expenses.

The venue will be identified after receipts of applications, in order that it can be convenient to members.  All sessions will run from 9.30 am – 1.00 pm (followed by lunch).

When are the workshops?

The workshops are held throughout 2011.
