With just over two weeks to go, we are full steam ahead to deliver ARC NI’s 2 day conference.
Focused on Bamford, this conference offers delegates the unique opportunity of pausing for reflection and collaborating in cross-sector discussions to identify solutions.
Through asking simple questions such as ‘Bamford Vision – Where are we?’ the delegates on Day 1, Thursday 29th September, will hear from a number of speakers highlighting some of the most recent developments affecting the learning disability sector. This includes the review of learning disability community services and the findings of evaluating the Bamford Action Plan 2012-15. There will also be a number of opportunities to hear about various models of practice through presentations and workshops.
ARC NI’s ‘Telling It Like It Is’ (TILII) members have also been thinking about how they can tell ARC NI what delegates thought of the conference and are excited by using an app to help them. Prepare yourself to be approached and more importantly, be honest in your feedback!
The sector is a challenging and sometimes lonely place and quite often, leaders are overlooked with little time being given, or taken, to ensure their well being. This is important to create space for innovation and resilience to even consider any form of risk taking. Day 2, Friday 30th September of ARC NI’s conference hosts a number of exciting speakers who will reassure, challenge and excite the delegates in their role as leaders of today.
On a personal note, I was told how important the ARC NI conferences are and how critical it was for me to get this back on the map! The response to date has been amazing with so many people excited by the opportunity to get together and share thinking. This in turn has made my job a lot easier and I will take great pleasure in thanking everyone on the day, from contributors to delegates.
Albeit slightly busy, I can’t express how much the ARC NI Team and a number of our ‘Telling It Like It Is’ members are looking forward to seeing you there, whether member or non-member, provider or funder. And so I would encourage you to book your place and look forward to seeing you then.
Leslie-Anne Newton, ARC NI Director
