Collaborative Project (ColPro)

ColPro is a partnership of 9 voluntary agencies, which have agreed to work together with a view to identifying if and how cost savings may be made through collaborative working.

The project will run initially from September 2010 – March 2011

  • ARC (NI)
  • Autism Initiatives
  • Cedar Foundation
  • Mencap
  • Positive Futures
  • Presbyterian Board of Social Witness
  • Prospects
  • Caring Breaks
  • Oaklee Housing Association

Colpro aims to explore and test opportunities for establishing collaborative working between the partner agencies and how this practice can be shared to the wider sector.

WHY?

It is recognised that the current, challenging financial environment will require agencies to develop different approaches to maximising resources.  The project partners believe that there may be potential for differing approaches to be generated through collaborative working, wherein each individual organisation benefits from:

  • the expertise of other partners
  • reduced duplication of effort
  • opportunities that may be developed to test out new approaches which may result in resources being more effectively utilised
  • the enhancement of support provided to service users.

HOW?

The first step will be to explore whether there are potential savings to be made in the area of

  • Establishing shared recruitment systems and process
  • Establish shared induction/training
  • Developing an internal labour market for provision of cover that is currently provided by relief or agency staff
  • Research the feasibility of using assistive technology in considering options for collaborative working for sharing sleepovers, waking nights and night time support
