ARC’s mission is to champion the development of high quality person centred services for everyone with a learning disability within the UK.
ARC seeks to put this ‘mission’ into practice by doing things such as:
- promoting and/or participating in research into improving services
- helping support staff to get appropriate training
- producing materials aimed at improving training or practice
- sharing information and advice between providers of services for the benefit of all
- working with people with learning disabilities themselves to develop best practice projects
- helping to change the way services are provided in line with current policies in the four countries
- assisting in better decision making by providing information to policy makers
- promoting a better understanding of the support needs and rights of people with a learning disability and their legitimate place in society, both nationally and internationally
