Care Council for Wales has produced a new learning resource ‘Positive Approaches: Reducing Restrictive Practices in Social Care’.
Although aimed specifically at social care workers, this resource will be useful for people who use services and their families, as well as managers, employers, policy makers, commissioners, those in education and others who work in the community.
The focus of the resource is on enabling and ensuring best practice using examples and scenarios for illustration. It can be used in a variety of ways including staff supervision, induction and training as well as to inform policy, protocols, quality assurance and commissioning.
The resource has been structured around the values and principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act and should be read alongside the Code of Professional Practice for Social Care. It has been developed in partnership with the social care sector.
