ARC was established to promote the quality of life, maintenance of standards and diversity of provision for people with a learning disability.

ARC seeks to put this ‘mission’ into practice by doing things such as:

  • promoting and/or participating in research into improving services
  • helping support staff to get appropriate training
  • producing materials aimed at improving training or practice
  • sharing information and advice between providers of services for the benefit of all
  • working with people with learning disabilities themselves to develop best practice projects
  • helping to change the way services are provided in line with current policies in the four countries
  • assisting in better decision making by providing information to policy makers
  • promoting a better understanding of the support needs and rights of people with a learning disability and their legitimate place in society, both nationally and internationally

The services we provide are based on the belief that promotion of choice, rights, independence, privacy, dignity and fulfilment for people we are supporting is the foundation of any good service.
