ARC Northern Ireland has been commissioned by DHSSPS to lead on the development of a Service Framework.
The project aims to:
- Enabling people with learning disabilities to live full and meaningful lives
- Have access to a wide range of continuing education, training, employment, social and leisure opportunities.
- Active participation of the person with a learning disability, their family and the wider community in promoting independence, self-help and self-directed support
- Securing improvements in the health and wellbeing of a person with a learning disability, particularly for those with complex conditions.
- Establish a Project Team to guide and oversee the project
- Support 5 working groups that will develop the standards for children, day opportunities, accommodation and support, ageing well and health.
- Produce a draft framework and facilitate a widespread consultation process
- Produce final draft for DHSSPS

- Using feedback from the consultation process a final draft of the framework will be produced for the DHSSPS.
