Creating a Common Foundation in Care
What’s the project all about?
This two-year project directly follows on from the European Care Certificate (ECC) project. ARC is working with thirteen partners from twelve different countries in the European Union. Now that the ECC has been created this project’s main aim is to embed it throughout the countries that will be using it, make any adjustments or improvements to the certificate and add it to the National Qualification Framework. (What will be the Qualifications Credit Framework in the UK) The ECC will also be directly referenced to the European Qualification Framework.
Developments in the project so far
In November 2009 the partner organisations and ARC met in Brussels to discuss the project. The materials are currently being translated ready for the research to start.
The organisations are currently investigating the possibility of implementing an ECC Professional Carers Card.
Expected outcomes for the future
The aim of the project is for at least 1000 candidates across the EU countries that are using the ECC to have taken the exam and passed by the end of the project in 2011. An online version of the ECC will be developed.
