The National Involvement Network
What’s the project all about?
The aim of the network is to promote, implement and support ongoing involvement for people who use services in the organisations that provide support for them.
The National Involvement Network's objectives are to:
- Develop a National Charter for Involvement
- Develop tools to assist both people with learning disabilities and providers to monitor, evaluate and measure their performance against the standards in the Charter for Involvement
- Gain recognition as a network of people who use services for consultation on issues that affect people who use services at a national level.
Developments in the project so far
- The Charter was produced and launched on the 3rd April 2009
- 20 organisations have signed up to the Charter so far including the Scottish Parliaments Cross Party Group on Learning Disabilities
- Presentations about the Charter have been made at 5 events/conferences by people who use services
- 10 provider organisations have developed user participation groups as a consequence of being involved in the network
- ARC Scotland has received funding from the Scottish Government to develop stage 1 of a process to develop and pilot quality standards for user involvement in learning disability services.
Expected outcomes for the future
- People who use services from the network will monitor and evaluate quality standards for user involvement in learning disability services.
- More people who use services will join the network.
