“Challenging behaviour and positive behavioural support”
a half day workshop
Assistive Technology plus NEW Management Award
Thursday 11 September 2008
10:00am – 3:00pm
The Park Centre
High Street, Kingswood, Bristol BS15 4AR

Hear about Challenging Behaviour & Positive Behavioural Support with Dr Edwin Jones. People with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour are at increased risk of social exclusion, abuse and systematic neglect. However, staff training in PBS has been very difficult to access in the UK.
Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is the most up-to-date evidence based set of procedures for working effectively with this very vulnerable client group.
The presentation will demonstrate how:
- Contemporary concepts of CB can help to promote a person centred service ethos.
- PBS translates service values into action.
- Blended e-learning approaches can bridge the gap between the current skill shortage in services and the needs of people who display challenging behaviour.
Also an informal talk on Assistive Technology - how it can help individuals be more independent and accessed in Bristol. A (virtual) demonstration of equipment will include: memo minders, prompts for medication, bed sensors, key finders and easy mobile. So don’t miss it!
Hear updates on the NEW Management Awards.
PLUS all the usual news, views, issues and inside information.
AND all the latest training, funding and money-saving opportunities.
