I apologise for the cancellation of the last meeting. As it has been quite a while since we last met I thought it would be useful to spend a short time looking at an overview of what has been happening in the learning disability sector.
I would like to spend time on two topics; one specific document and one area of good practice.
The document to consider will be either:
Government Response to the Joint Committee on Human Rights: A Life Like Any Other Human Rights of Adults with Learning Disabilities (which makes many references to Valuing People Now)
Or
Putting People First – Working to Make it Happen, Adult Social Care Workforce Strategy – Interim Statement.
The good practice area will be:
Discussion around New Types of Worker, in connection with the recent Skills for Care project I did with recipients of Direct Payments who are employers
Or
Talking About Money – a training course for people with learning disabilities and their supporters, following ARC projects on money and banking issues.
PLUS all the usual news, views, issues and inside information.
AND all the latest training and funding opportunities.
