“Challenging behaviour and positive behavioural support” a half day workshop

Assistive Technology: towards independence

Tuesday 16 September 2008
10:00am – 3:00pm

The Grange,
Little Dean Road, Newnham on Severn GL14 1HJ

Hear about Challenging Behaviour & Positive Behavioural Support with Dr Edwin Jones. People with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour are at increased risk of social exclusion, abuse and systematic neglect. However, staff training in PBS has been very difficult to access in the UK.

Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is the most up-to-date evidence based set of procedures for working effectively with this very vulnerable client group.

The presentation will demonstrate how:

  • Contemporary concepts of CB can help to promote a person centred service ethos.
  • PBS translates service values into action.
  • Blended e-learning approaches can bridge the gap between the current skill shortage in services and the needs of people who display challenging behaviour.

Also a presentation by Holly Gittings (Telecare) on Assistive Technology: how it can help individuals be more independent and accessed in Gloucestershire. The demonstration of equipment will include; heat/smoke detectors, prompts for medication, bed sensors and key finders.

Hear updates from the LDPB’s and Joint Commissioners & Providers Forum.

PLUS all the usual news, views, issues and inside information.
AND all the latest training and funding opportunities.
